Transforming ordinary into extraordinary - Houston Pet Photography

No, this post is not about ordinary dogs, because quite frankly, most dogs are already extraordinary.  This post is about seeing beauty in your normal everyday surroundings.

Since becoming a photographer, I see the world in a different way.  I am constantly on the lookout for things that could translate into a beautiful photograph, like unique viewpoints or sparkly light or interesting patterns, textures, colors, you name it!  Even when I don't have my camera with me, I notice and appreciate my environment with a new perspective.

Here's an example.  On a recent photo shoot, I ushered the doggie into a clump of long grass near this parking garage:

ordinary location parking garage

Nothing special, right?  A concrete sidewalk, some grass, some trees missing most of their leaves, and a standard parking garage.  I’m sure my client was thinking,  “Huh?!  What’s she doing?  This area isn’t that pretty.  My dog's not even paying attention.  But whatever, I’ll just go along with it…”

Then imagine her surprise a few weeks later when I showed her this image:

Yes, that is from the same location!  And that’s what a professional photographer should do.  Turn something ordinary (maybe sometimes even downright ugly) into something extraordinary.

Gimme a shout if you're interested in having your own extraordinary dog photographed.
